The Little Dragons program is a specialised Preschool program suited for kids from ages 3 to 6. Designed to teach your kids the basics of martial arts, it is one of the best ways to introduce them to other and more advanced martial art forms while having fun.
The program was created to develop 8 specific areas that will help your children become better martial artists and individuals. These areas are:
- Discipline
- Focus
- Concentration
- Coordination
- Control
- Balance
- Teamwork
- Fitness
- Stranger Awareness
- Confrontation Management
We have specifically built this program around the stages of development of children. Classes develop the communication, social, intellectual, physical and emotional skills at the appropriate level for their age. This is designed to develop the necessary attributes to function as an teenager and young adult. The ages 3-6 years old are the most important as this is where everyone develops the foundation of these life skills.
Another very important aspect of this programme, is teaching personal safety. For example, as a parent if you are afraid of your child drowning, you teach them to swim, so that if you aren't watching them, they are still safe around water.
Similarly, if your child knows how to deal with strangers when approached, or what to do if they are lost, it gives you peace of mind as parent to know they are able to independently manage and cope with these situations in a safe manner. We specifically address these situations during our child development programs in correlation with martial arts training.
The program takes around three years to complete. Over this period, your kids will be taught basic martial art forms and will be prepared for our more advanced Taekwondo program. Graduation will be heavily based on regular attendance and skill development, so we encourage you to play an active part in ensuring that your kids come to class regularly.
Even before graduation we make sure to recognise the achievements of our Little Dragons. We will award Skill Stripes once they have improved enough to satisfy their instructors. They will also be assessed on all areas of development through special skills and drills in the TIP Test. Passing the test will qualify them for graduation.
All friends and family are invited to attend graduations. We encourage you to spend time with your kids, have fun with them, take photos and see just how much they have improved.
